Facts about the other side come from Apple's own support pages, verified on 2026-10-13. Where we could not find a clear statement we write "not verified", which means we did not see it on the official page, not that it does not exist. Apple's features change with iOS versions, so check how your own phone behaves before deciding.
The differences at a glance
| Item | This product | The other side | Source (verified 2026-10-13) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where the information comes from | Any screenshot you take: chats, emails, posters, class notices, order confirmations | Siri suggested events come from content in Mail, Messages and Safari, such as flight and hotel bookings | Apple Support: Create and edit events in Calendar on iPhone |
| Setup you have to do | None; grant calendar access the first time | Per that page, turn on Show in App under Calendar > Siri in Settings (menu names vary by iOS version) | Same Apple page |
| Creating an event directly from a screenshot or image | Yes, this is the main use | No mention on that page: not verified | Same Apple page |
| Editing fields before saving | Yes: the confirmation screen edits title, date, time, place and notes; high-confidence non-chat screenshots are written directly with a 10-second undo | How suggestions are saved: not verified | — |
| Cost | Free plan with 10 a month; paid monthly, yearly or lifetime (prices in the app) | A system feature with no separate charge | App Store listing |
Where the built-in feature does well
Siri suggestions need no extra app and no effort: neatly structured information such as flight and hotel bookings in email appears as a suggested event, and you keep the ones you want. If most of your events come from booking confirmations, that may be all you need.
The gap SnapCal fills
- The time is inside an image. A group chat notice, an event poster, a class screenshot or an order page in another app has no structure the system can read. A screenshot is the most direct way in.
- Editable before saving. Every field on the confirmation screen can be changed, so a wrong reading never lands in your calendar by itself.
- One-tap screenshot capture. Once you set a trigger (back tap, Action button or a floating button), screenshot, recognition, saving and notification happen without opening the app.
The costs
It is one more app, recognition relies on a server-side model, and you need a connection. The free plan allows 10 a month, then you need a subscription or the lifetime purchase. One screenshot makes one event, so a whole timetable is not split up. Chat screenshots always need one extra confirmation tap.
Compared with typing it in

FAQ
If I have Siri suggestions, do I still need SnapCal?
If most of your events come from bookings in email, Siri suggestions may be all you need. When the time lives in a chat screenshot, a poster or a page in another app, SnapCal is built for that gap.
Can I use it alongside the system calendar?
Yes. SnapCal writes into the iPhone system calendar, so both appear in the same calendar.
