Who this is for
Students juggling classes and deadlines: exam time and room posted in a class group, a deadline the teacher adds in chat, a lecture poster from the department, a defense schedule from an advisor. The information shows up once, as an image or chat text, and copying it into a calendar by hand is slow and easy to get wrong.
How to do it
- When you see a notice with a time, take a screenshot.
- In Messages, Mail or a browser, share the screenshot to SnapCal, or open the app and tap it under Recent Screenshots on the home screen.
- Recognition usually finishes within a few seconds. You get a title, date, start and end time and location. Check them and confirm, and the event is written to the iPhone calendar.
- If you use Feishu, you can also write to your Feishu calendar. See the Feishu setup guide.
It understands relaxed phrasing such as "next Wednesday at 3:30 pm" and handles mixed Chinese and English text.
Which screenshots fit, and which do not
- Fits: one exam, one deadline, one lecture, one defense, one interview notice. One clear point in time per image.
- Does not fit: a full weekly timetable. One screenshot becomes one event. It will not split a timetable into many classes or create weekly repeats. For fixed repeating classes, set them up once with the system calendar's repeat option.
Why chat screenshots need one extra tap
A screenshot from a chat always goes to the confirmation screen first. Small text in chat interfaces is the easiest thing to misread, so you get to check it however confident the recognition is. For non-chat screenshots such as posters and emails, when the details are complete and confidence is high the event is written directly with a 10-second undo, and you can turn automatic creation off in Settings. The full rules are in the complete guide.
Is the free allowance enough?
The free plan includes 10 recognitions a month, and only an event actually written to the calendar uses one. Previews and background pre-recognition do not count. Exams and deadlines for a term will often fit. If you need more, there is a monthly plan, a yearly plan or a one-time lifetime purchase, with prices shown in the app.
FAQ
Can one timetable screenshot create the whole semester?
No. SnapCal turns one screenshot into one calendar event. It does not split a whole timetable into many classes or create repeating events. It suits one-off items such as an exam, a deadline, a talk or a thesis defense notice.
Will a notice screenshotted from a campus group chat be added straight away?
Chat screenshots always go to a confirmation screen first, so you can check the title, date and place before anything is written.
