Who this is for
People whose schedule is pushed around by group chats and messages: school parent groups with events and payment deadlines, building notices about water cuts, community meetups, appointment texts from a clinic or salon, delivery and order confirmations. You do not need another to-do app. You need these times to land in the calendar you already check.
How to do it
- Screenshot the message or page that contains the time.
- Share the screenshot to SnapCal, or tap it under Recent Screenshots on the home screen.
- You land on a confirmation screen where the title, date, start and end time, place and description are all editable. Nothing is written until you confirm.
- By default the event goes to the iPhone calendar, including calendars from iCloud, Google or Exchange accounts you have added in iOS settings. You can also write to your Feishu calendar.
How chat screenshots are handled
Group and one-on-one chat screenshots never skip the confirmation screen. The small text beside avatars and in the top bar is the easiest to misread, so you check the result before it is saved. Titles are assembled by fixed rules: a one-on-one chat uses the other person's name from the top bar, a group chat uses a summary of the subject, and a group name or an email address never ends up in the title. See why titles are consistent.
Meetings and online events
Links, meeting IDs and passwords for Tencent Meeting, Feishu Meeting, Zoom, Teams and DingTalk found in the screenshot are copied as they are into the event notes, so you can tap the link from the calendar instead of digging through the chat.
What about vague times?
Group notices often say "this Saturday" or "next Wednesday evening" with no date. The app understands relative dates, but when it is not sure it sends you to the confirmation screen rather than guessing a date and writing it.
FAQ
Can it read a screenshot from a chat group?
Yes. Chat screenshots go to a confirmation screen first, and nothing is written until you check the title, date and place. Since 1.10.12, chat screenshots in languages other than Chinese are confirmed first too.
What happens when recognition fails or the service is down?
If the service is temporarily unavailable, the app now says so instead of telling you there is no event in the image.
